Around March 10 you will get to know whether your abstract is accepted.

Language

Presentations can be in Danish or English. At least one of the parallel sessions in each track will be in English. Abstracts must be submitted in accordance with the language you want to present in.

Session formats at DUN Conference 2017

Regardless of the format you choose, you must submit two texts:

  • An abstract of max. 2.000 characters (incl. spacing)
  • A program text of max. 200 characters (incl. spacing)

Poster

A poster must portray the most important points from an educational, developmental or research project. The poster will be presented in a standing or walking poster session lasting 45 or 90 minutes, where listeners and speakers will be guided through a series of 4 or 8 poster presentations within an overall theme. The review panel will assemble the abstracts for the posters as thematically as possible. Each individual poster presentation will last 10 minutes and will be structured in the following way:

  • 5 minutes for presentation
  • 5 minutes for discussion and questions

The poster session will be led by a ‘chair’ who will keep time and facilitate the individual presentations and the concluding discussion. The experience from several pedagogical conferences is that this presentational format can be a lively and intensive way to get a lot of input.

Abstracts: Max. 2.000 characters (incl. spacing) - must contain:

  • Introduction to the theme of the project
  • Applied methods and/or theory
  • Results and/or experiences
  • Practical implications and/or impact

Program text: Max. 200 characters(incl. spacing) - a short version of the abstract. The program text will appear in the program.

Literature: You may include up to 5 references and these are not encompassed in the counting of words.

Size of a poster
There is no requirement for the size of a poster.
The notice boards are all W: 147 cm x H: 117 cm.
However, there is room for larger posters than that, as the board itself is placed above the floor as well as it is possible to put two boards together to make room for large posters.

Workshop

A workshop lasts 45 (or 90 minutes) and it is greatly interactive and oriented towards the active involvement of the participants. Typically, the workshop is based on concrete practical experiences and/or research based knowledge related to university education, and may gladly contribute with concrete tests of methods, principles, tools etc. A workshop can be structured in the following way: a 5 (or 10) minute presentation of the subject, 30 (or 60) minutes of participant activity, 10 (or 20) minutes of general thematic discussion.

Abstracts: Max. 2.000 characters (incl. spacing) - must contain the following four paragraphs with headlines:

  • Background (short description of the rationality of the workshop)
  • Requisite of participant (consideration of the prepared work, especially target group etc.)
  • Content and structure (description of the workshop activities)
  • Anticipated benefit (description of the participant’s benefit)

Program text: Max. 200 characters- a short version of the abstract. The program text will appear in the program.

Literature: You may include up to 5 references and these are not encompassed in the counting of words.

Paper (optionally in a coordinated symposium)

A paper is a 15 minutes oral presentation followed by 5-7 minutes of questions and discussion. Often, the presentation is based on original research projects, which are theoretically and methodologically well-founded, and which at the same time contribute with new knowledge of university pedagogy. The review-panel assembles the submitted abstracts as thematic as possible. However, it is also possible for the participants to get together in advance and thus coordinate a symposium. This must be indicated when submitting the individual papers.

Abstracts: Max. 2.000 characters - must contain the following four paragraphs with headlines:

  • Introduction (including theoretical basis)
  • Method
  • Results
  • Discussion

Program text: Max. 200 characters- a short version of the abstract. The program text will appear in the program.

Literature: You may include up to 5 references and these are not encompassed in the counting of words.

Free format

The free format can last either 45 minutes or 90 minutes and can be freely shaped after the host’s idea. The sessions are not limited to certain rooms and thus it can take place indoors or outside the conference center. Furthermore, it is not a requirement that the session is based on the written or spoken language, but it may be shaped more as physically, bodily and/or aesthetically formats. The theme must be relevant for the conference theme and the session must be able to contain 15 participants.

Abstracts: Max. 2.000 characters - must contain the following four paragraphs with headlines:

  • Accurate description of the subject and the format
  • Rationale for the subject and the format
  • Optionally requisite of participants

Program text: Max. 200 characters- a short version of the abstract. The program text will appear in the program.

Literature: You may include up to 5 references and these are not encompassed in the counting of words.
