The SIG 'Learning in Laboratory Work and Field Work' are very happy to announce a physical meeting in the SIG, taking place at SDU on March 21, 2022.
At the meeting, we will discuss two overall themes – each theme has two speakers. The speakers have been asked to provide fairly brief presentations (20 minutes) – so we have lots of time to discuss, share perspectives and learn from each other; and maybe start new collaborations.
9.30 - 10.00 | Arrivals |
10.00 - 12.00 |
Theme 1: How to explore student learning and outcomes in field work and lab work – researcher and practitioner perspectives Speakers are Professor Ben Kennedy, University of Canterbury, New Zealand, and Magdalena Pyrz, Aarhus University. Ben Kennedy is an expert on field work learning, and will describe some of the studies he has been involved in, and Magdalena Pyrz will describe her experiences with exploring learning in laboratory work. Both will also bring questions for us to discuss. |
12.00 - 13.00 | Lunch will be served |
13.00 - 15.00 | Theme 2: Integrating research perspectives in laboratory work and field work – moving beyond “standard exercises” Speakers are Marie Larsen Ryberg, KU and associate professor emeritus Jens Josephsen, Roskilde University. Marie has a background in anthropology and is currently studying experiments with research integration in teaching experiments at KU. Focus will be on both field work and laboratory work. Jens Josephsen has worked extensively on describing and understanding project based activities involving laboratory work and will provide perspectives on experimental work in project based settings. |
