The Finnish Institute for Educational Research is currently seeking to recruit a candidate for a permanent position of Research Professor in guidance research, starting on January 3, 2022 or as soon as possible after that.
The position of the Research Professor is located in the field of guidance research, more precisely, the role of information and communication technology (ICT) in lifelong guidance. The task of the Research Professor is to develop guidance research in general and especially research focusing on the use of ICT in guidance from the perspective of lifelong guidance.
Research Professor is responsible for leading research in the field of guidance research, for strengthening guidance research infrastructure in cooperation with different stakeholders and through applying for external research funding. Research professor is expected also to lead the development of research focusing on guidance in cooperation with stakeholders and to develop the use of research-based knowledge in national and international decision-making. Research Professor is also responsible for developing doctoral studies in cooperation with other units of the University of Jyväskylä.
Applicants are required to have a suitable doctoral degree in education or in a related discipline. Previous experience and evidence on research related to this position's content are a clear advantage for the applicant. We expect evidence on high-level publishing, active participation in policy-making processes related to guidance at national and international levels and ability to procure research funding.
The duties, qualification requirements and language skills of a Research Professor are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. The selected person is required to have a command of Finnish language. In certain cases, the University may grant exemption from this requirement. In this position, the Research Professor is expected to have a good command of English language.
