Higher education has been all but taken over by human capital thinking and ‘learnification’. In the face of this it is essential to turn to the question of the purpose of education, also in an effort to reorient policy makers and practitioners. A series of webinars will explore what various key thinkers have to say about the purpose of a university education. In this webinar, the question will be considered in light of the work of the American philosopher and educationalist John Dewey. As is well known Dewey himself did not write extensively on higher education, however two experts are invited to start us considering how he might have answered our question.

Speakers
Dr Aaron Stoller, Colorado College, US.
Professor Bente Elkjær, Aarhus University, Denmark

The webinar is arranged by Centre for Research on Problem-oriented Project Learning, RUC-PPL.
