ACADEMIC MORNING: THINKING ABOUT DESIGN PATTERNS AND EMPATHIC LEARNING DESIGN IN HYBRID EDUCATION
(This part of the programme only for SIG-members)

The session will begin with a theoretical talk in the morning. This will propose a framework for design research in education, based on Yishay’s work in the Learning Patterns, Planet, and Layers projects. This framework combines design scenarios, narratives, principles and patterns. It will draw on examples from his experience in the recent MOOC design project and other initiatives, and lead a discussion on the applicability of these ideas to the Danish TEL research community.

13:00-16:00
HANDS-ON AFTERNOON: WORKING WITH DESIGN PATTERNS AND EMPATHIC LEARNING DESIGN IN HYBRID EDUCATION
(open to everyone)

A hands-on design workshop for online/blended/hybrid learning, using some of the patterns from Yishay’s recent projects and the MOOCs & Co. design kit (Link Arrow http://moocsandco.com/en/kit). Participants will work in teams on an educational challenge of their choice. They will inspect the context of this challenge and characterize the actors within this context, articulate the forces defining the design space, conceptualize an innovation to address this challenge and evaluate it.
