Abstract

Our seminar and workshop will start by trying to understand ‘what digital pedagogy is not’, expanding from there to try to understand what its futures might be. In the talk, we will propose that digital pedagogy – and digital education more broadly – is more than just pandemic emergency teaching, AI-driven automation or tips and tricks for the ‘enhancement’ of student experience. We will argue that it is a space of hope, in which teachers can craft preferable futures for the practices and structures of education itself.

Drawing on our own research in the co-design of preferable futures for education, our seminar will describe some of the dominant imaginaries currently shaping digital pedagogy, explore alternatives and present examples of new kinds of futures for higher education that are currently emergent.
In the workshop which follows, participants will work with a set of speculative scenarios we have developed as a basis for defining what we want our own futures for digital pedagogy to look like

Nytårs-DiP

Mødet er kun for SIG'ens medlemmer Link Arrow Bliv medlem

Dato: 17. januar 2022 kl. 13.00-15.00

Sted: Online via Zoom.

Abstract
University teaching and learning for a digital world

A large Australian tertiary institution with a history of distance education, Deakin University promotes digital innovation, with a focus on making digital learning as valued as on-campus activities. The Centre for Assessment and Digital Learning (CRADLE) brings together research and practice to both inform and develop Deakin’s work but also the broader higher education landscape. This talk explores how research and practice can interweave and productively enhance each other. In particular, it describes one of Deakin’s key digital learning project strands and outlines the associated research that explores what it means to design, work and learn within online environments.

Sted: Online via Zoom og Wonder.me.

Mødet er åbent for alle

Beskrivelse

Presentation of DiP

The DiP-network aims to be a strong practice, development and research community in relation to digital pedagogy, technology enhanced learning and online, hybrid and digital higher education across faculties and universities in Denmark. The purpose is to develop a strong foundation for institutional practice and the scholarship of teaching and learning within these fieldPanels through creating strong connections between research, development and practice.

The SIG will achieve this goal through exploring chosen core themes together, both internally in the SIG and through collaborating with national and international scholars and developers within the chosen theme. Specifically, the SIG will host open events with national and international speakers, arrange internal networking events for members as well as facilitate open events, special journal issues and project meetings for its members to develop the agenda in Denmark within the chosen themes.

The SIG will focus its thematic exploration and collaboration around its implications for a) learning and students, b) pedagogy and teachers, c) culture and institutions.

  1. Digital pedagogy
  2. Teaching and learning design
  3. Technology enhanced learning
  4. Digital learning environments
  5. Educational technology

DiP will bring together researchers, developers and teachers across higher education institutions, who are interested in these and related domains to inspire best practice, develop a shared understanding and establish the field drawing together both national and international knowledge.

ACADEMIC MORNING: THINKING ABOUT DESIGN PATTERNS AND EMPATHIC LEARNING DESIGN IN HYBRID EDUCATION
(This part of the programme only for SIG-members)

The session will begin with a theoretical talk in the morning. This will propose a framework for design research in education, based on Yishay’s work in the Learning Patterns, Planet, and Layers projects. This framework combines design scenarios, narratives, principles and patterns. It will draw on examples from his experience in the recent MOOC design project and other initiatives, and lead a discussion on the applicability of these ideas to the Danish TEL research community.

13:00-16:00
HANDS-ON AFTERNOON: WORKING WITH DESIGN PATTERNS AND EMPATHIC LEARNING DESIGN IN HYBRID EDUCATION
(open to everyone)

A hands-on design workshop for online/blended/hybrid learning, using some of the patterns from Yishay’s recent projects and the MOOCs & Co. design kit (Link Arrow http://moocsandco.com/en/kit). Participants will work in teams on an educational challenge of their choice. They will inspect the context of this challenge and characterize the actors within this context, articulate the forces defining the design space, conceptualize an innovation to address this challenge and evaluate it.

As a SIG-member we will cover your travel (or parts thereof). Non-SIG members are welcome in the afternoon but will have to cover their own travel costs.
Further, for SIG members there will be a light lunch (sandwich or likewise + water/soda) between 12.00 – 13.00.
