Date: May 22-24, 2019

Venue: Department of Educational Research and Development at the University of Borås, Sweden

Deadline abstracts: February 28, 2019 for parallel paper presentations (150 words)

The submission email should have the subject line ‘Abstract submission Praxis symposium’ and include the title, all author names, and author affiliations.

The symposium is open to researchers from all Nordic countries who share an interest in higher education, as well as invited guests from non-Nordic countries.

The aim of the symposium is to create a space to consider and deepen our understanding of key challenges and pressures (and opportunities!) facing universities today, and generate new educational possibilities. The symposium will be an opportunity for researchers to come together in the spirit of a critical conversation to theorise, share research, debate and create knowledge about (and for) praxis in a university environment, especially in the Nordic context.

The symposium will include a combination of keynote presentations, panel discussion, parallel paper presentations, and small group discussions. It will be held in English. Places are limited to 100 delegates, with priority given to those presenting papers.

The time allocation for parallel paper presentations will be 30 minutes (inclusive of 15 minutes for discussion). They can be fully developed papers or slide presentations. Papers based on empirical studies are particularly encouraged.

Topics for parallel paper presentations may include, but are not limited to:

  • Manifestations of praxis in higher education (e.g., in leadership, research, teaching and learning, scholarship, and/or community engagement)
  • Challenges and/or opportunities for enacting practice as praxis in higher education
